The FK8 clutch starts slipping somewhere around a full bolt-on tune with a turbo upgrade, and the stock replacement doesn't buy you much. Exedy's 08957 is the Stage 2 cerametallic kit for the K20C1, rated 370 lb-ft at the wheels, built around a sprung 240mm disc that bolts to the factory flywheel.

What It Is and Why It Works

The pressure plate is a ductile-iron Stage cover with about 40 percent more clamp than the Honda plate. The disc is cerametallic on a sprung hub, so it holds heat and clamp without fading and the damper takes the edge off engagement. Exedy lists it as the thin-disc version, which drops inertia for faster shifts at the cost of some heat capacity, so it's a clutch for a car that gets driven hard and occasionally slipped, not one that sits in traffic slipping every day.

Engagement is firmer and shorter than stock and the pedal is heavier. It's livable as a daily if you're honest about that. If you want stock manners with a little more capacity, the Stage 1 organic is the other option.
